Over 2,000 new Burnaby NewsLeader photographs!

Over 2000 new photographs are now online as part of the Burnaby NewsLeader photograph collection!

The Burnaby NewsLeader, established in 1989, was a community newspaper that covered local events and matters. The City of Burnaby Archives is pleased to be the home for many of the newspaper’s photographs dating back to 1995. The Archives received an additional donation of born-digital photographs after the newspaper ceased publication in 2015, and since then, we have been working to describe and make as many of these photographs available online as possible.

A new set of over 2000 of these Burnaby NewsLeader photographs are now published here on Heritage Burnaby for viewing and research. These photographs, starting at item no. 535-1526, span the year 1999-2005 and document community members, noteworthy political and local events, and slices of life from Burnaby and the Lower Mainland in the early 21st century.

More photographs from this donation (Accession Number: 2018-12) will be added to the online collection in the future. For now, browse these new photographs or the entire collection. Please contact the Archives to view any of the photographs within a file that are not displayed on Heritage Burnaby, or for any other access and reproduction questions.
